Choose your machine and go through the steps for a correct descaling procedure
A Modo Mio Jolie
Lime deposits normally form with prolonged use of the appliance; the machine should be descaled every 3-4 months and/or when a reduction in water flow is noticed.
In the event of any operational conflict, this user and maintenance manual prevails over any entries on accessories and/or separately sold components. A commercially available descaling product for coffee machines of non-toxic and/or harmful kind can be used for descaling. Never drink descaling solution and dispense products only after completing the cycle. Never use vinegar to descale your coffee machine.
1) Remove and empty the water reservoir. Refill the tank with descaling solution and water as indicated on the package of the descaling product.
2) Place the water reservoir back on the machine.
3) Turn the machine ON and place a suitable bowl under the spout.
4) Press the switch-on / supply button and then make two cups (about 150 ml each) of water.
5) Let the descaling solution soak in for about 15-20min.
6) Switch on the machine by pressing the switch-on / supply button and repeat the operation as described in steps 4 and 5.
7) Repeat the steps described in point 6 until the water reservoir is completely empty.
8) Remove the water reservoir, rinse and wash it carefully. Fill the water reservoir with fresh non-carbonated water up to the MAX. level.
9) Switch on the machine by pressing the switch-on / supply button. Place a suitable bowl or container under the spout. Press the switch-on / supply button, then empty the entire contents of the water reservoir.
10) If the water reservoir is empty, refill the tank and repeat the steps described in step 9. When finished, the descaling cycle is complete.

1) Remove and empty the water reservoir. Refill the tank with descaling solution and water as indicated on the package of the descaling product.
2) Place the water reservoir back on the machine.
3) Switch on the machine and place a suitable container or bowl under the spout.
4) Press the switch-on / stand-by / supply button, then tap two cups (about 150 ml each) of water.
5) Let the descaling solution take effect for about 15-20 minutes.
6) Switch on the machine by pressing the power-on / standby / supply button and repeat steps 4 and 5 as described.
7) Repeat step 6 as described until the water reservoir is completely empty.
8) Remove the water reservoir, rinse and wash it carefully. Fill the water reservoir with fresh non-carbonated water up to the MAX. level.
9) Switch on the dispenser by pressing the enable / standby / supply button. Place a suitable container or bowl under the spout. Press the switch-on / stand-by / supply button, then tap the entire contents of the water reservoir.
10) When the water reservoir is empty, refill it and repeat the steps described in point 9. When finished, the descaling cycle is complete.
A Modo Mio Minù Caffè Latte

A commercially available descaling product for coffee machines of non-toxic and/or harmful kind can be used for descaling. 2) Place the water reservoir back on the machine.

4) Use the coffee lever on the side of the machine, then brew two cups (about 150 ml each) of water.
5) Turn the machine OFF.
6) Let the descaling solution soak in for about 15-20min.
7) Switch on the machine by pressing the switch-on / supply button and repeat the operation as described in steps 4 and 5. Switch the machine OFF by pressing the switch-on / supply button. Leave the machine off for about 3mins.
8) Repeat the steps described in point 7 until the water reservoir is completely empty.
9) Remove the water reservoir, rinse and wash it carefully. Fill the water reservoir with fresh non-carbonated water up to the MAX. level.
10) Switch on the machine by pressing the switch-on / supply button. Place a suitable bowl or container under the spout. Use the coffee lever on the side of the machine, then empty the entire contents of the water reservoir.
11) If the water reservoir is empty, refill the tank and repeat the steps described in step 10. When finished, the descaling cycle is complete.
A Modo Mio Idola
Limescale normally develops with prolonged use of the appliance; the machine should be descaled every 2 months and/or when a reduction in water flow is noticed. The machine requests the descaling cycle by switching on the available special warning light. Do not switch off the machine while the descaling cycle is in progress. Stay with the machine when the descaling cycle is in progress. The cycle, once started, must be fully executed.
Check that there is no capsule in the capsule feed tray. Never drink descaling solution and dispense products only after completing the cycle. Never use vinegar to descale your coffee machine.
1) Remove and empty the water reservoir. Fill the reservoir with a solution of descaler and water, as indicated on the package of the descaling product.
2) Replace the reservoir. Place a container with a capacity of at least 0.5 litres under the spout.
3) Connect the machine to the mains - do NOT switch the machine on.
4) Simultaneously hold down the ESPRESSO and LONG ESPRESSO buttons for at least 5 seconds. The machine emits a prolonged sound signal, after which the: On / Standby and FREE DOSE buttons and the descale warning light illuminate continuously.
5) Press the FREE DOSE button to start descaling. If the FREE DOSE button is not pressed within 9 minutes of the noise signal, the machine returns to the ‘Standby’ mode and step 4 of the procedure is repeated to start the cycle.
6) The machine activates the heating phase and the FREE DOSE button starts flashing.
7) The machine automatically activates the descaling process after the warm-up cycle is over. During the descaling cycle, the FREE DOSE button will be ON and flashing and the descaling warning light will be on continuously. During the descaling cycle, the machine automatically performs intermittent feed cycles to empty the container. The descaling cycle can be temporarily interrupted by pressing the FREE DOSE button or the On / Standby button. To restart the cycle, press the FREE DOSE button.
8) The cycle is temporarily interrupted when the water reservoir is empty. Empty the container used to collect the solution. The On / Standby, FREE DOSE button and ‘No water’ warning light illuminate constantly. Descale warning light illuminates and flashes.
9) Remove the water reservoir, then rinse and wash the tank carefully. Fill the water reservoir with fresh non-carbonated water up to the MAX. level. In the event of power failure, when the machine is switched on for the first time, it will request the rinse cycle.
10) Fill the water reservoir with water. Place a container with a capacity of at least 0.5 litres under the spout.
11) Press the FREE DOSE button to start the rinse cycle. To end the flushing cycle, a minimum amount of water must have passed through. If there is not enough water, the cycle will be temporarily interrupted, the machine will make a prolonged noise and the ‘No water’ warning light will come on continuously. Refill the water reservoir.
12) The descaling process is complete at the end of the cycle. Clean the machine using a damp, soft cloth. After cleaning the machine, it is ready for use again.
A Modo Mio Deséa
Limescale normally develops with prolonged use of the appliance; the machine should be descaled every 2 months and/or when a reduction in water flow is noticed. The machine requests the descaling cycle by switching on the special warning light. Do not switch off the machine while the descaling cycle is in progress. Stay with the machine when the descaling cycle is in progress. The cycle, once started, must be fully executed.
Check that there is no capsule in the capsule feed tray. Never drink descaling solution and dispense products only after completing the cycle. Never use vinegar to descale your coffee machine.
The milk beater should not be inserted during the descaling cycle.
1) Remove and empty the water reservoir and remove the milk pitcher. Fill the reservoir with a solution of descaler and water, as indicated on the package of the descaling product.
2) Replace the reservoir. Place a container with a capacity of at least 0.5 litres under the spout.
3) Connect the machine to the mains - do NOT switch the machine on.
4) Simultaneously hold down the ESPRESSO and LONG ESPRESSO buttons for at least 5 seconds. The machine emits a prolonged sound signal, after which the: On / Standby and FREE DOSE buttons and the descale warning light illuminate continuously.
5) Press the FREE DOSE button to start descaling. If the FREE DOSE button is not pressed within 9 minutes of the noise signal, the machine returns to the ‘Standby’ mode and step 4 of the procedure is repeated to start the cycle.
6) The machine activates the heating phase and the FREE DOSE button starts flashing.
7) The machine automatically activates the descaling process after the warm-up cycle is over. During the descaling cycle, the FREE DOSE button will be ON and flashing and the descaling warning light will be on continuously. 9) Remove the water reservoir, rinse and wash the tank carefully. Fill the water reservoir with fresh non-carbonated water up to the MAX. level. In the event of power failure, when the machine is switched on for the first time, it will request the rinse cycle.
10) Fill the water reservoir with water. Place a container with a capacity of at least 0.5 litres under the spout.
11) Press the FREE DOSE button to start the rinse cycle. To end the flushing cycle, a minimum amount of water must have passed through. If there is not enough water, the cycle will be temporarily interrupted, the machine will make a prolonged noise and the ‘No water’ warning light will come on continuously. Refill the water reservoir.
12) The descaling process is complete at the end of the cycle. Clean the machine using a damp, soft cloth. After cleaning the machine, it is ready for use again.
A Modo Mio Smeg
Lime deposits form normally with long-term use of the appliance; the machine should be descaled every 2-3 months and/or when a reduction in water flow is noticed. The descaling cycle is requested by the machine only in the ‘ready’ status by illuminating the following warning lights: ESPRESSO flashes alternately white and orange for 1 second. ESPRESSO LUNGO constant white light. Check that there is no capsule in the capsule feed tray. Never drink descaling solution and drink spent products only after completing the cycle. Never use vinegar to descale your coffee machine.
1) Remove and empty the water reservoir. Fill the reservoir with a solution of descaler and water, as indicated on the package of the descaling product.
2) Replace the reservoir. Turn on the machine and place a container under the spout.- Press the on / brew button and allow 2 cups of water (about 150 ml each) to flow. Let the descaler take effect for 15-20 minutes. Repeat the process until the water reservoir is completely empty.
3) Remove the tank and rinse it with fresh drinking water. Fill it completely. Press the on / brew button to switch the machine on. Place a suitable container or bowl under the spout. Press the on/brew button and let all the liquid in the tank flow through.
4) Once the water runs out, refill the tank and repeat the process (3) as described in the previous step. The descaling process is complete at the end of the cycle. The machine is ready to use again.
